A good daily skin care routine is essential for maintaining a healthy looking, fresh skin, but every once in a while you need to leave it to the professionals and get a skin boosting facial treatment. More precisely, you should get one once a month or every 6 weeks; since that is on average the rate of your epidermal cell turnover. By making it a habit of scheduling regular appointments, you are investing in a healthy and radiant complexion for the future.

A facial treatment is a multi-step, multi-purpose skin treatment that may include cleansing, exfoliating, a face-, neck-, shoulder- and head-massage, facial mask, a variety of serums and creams and the use of high-tech machinery. There are many types of facial treatments, and choosing the one you need depends on your skin type and conditions. Some are highly moisturising, others are firming and restoring, while some focus on problem areas and certain skin conditions. No matter the type, all facials have some amazing benefits for your skin. During your consultation, your practitioner will discuss your concerns with you and after a thorough skin analysis – you can decide together what type of facial will best suit your needs and budget.

What makes Skinlogic’s facial treatments different from the rest?

At Skinlogic, we pride ourselves in the use of premium medical grade products like Neostrata, Optiphi, Optoderm and Dermalogica; in conjunction with leading edge technology like Bio-Therapeutic’s LED lights, Bio-Therapeutic Nano Hydrate and Lift technology and Biotherapeutic Microcurrent technology.

Each facial is personalised to your skin concerns and our practitioners take care to provide an element of indulgence along with exceptional skin care results. You are welcome to request to be treated with a specific product range; otherwise your skin care therapist will expertly match your skincare needs with the correct products.

What are the benefits of having regular facial treatments?

  • Deep cleansing – they help your skin get rid of oil buildup, toxins and dirt from your everyday environment, thoroughly removing all the bacteria that could cause skin issues. A good exfoliation will remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and unclog your pores, allowing increased absorption of products. This will also make your skin look and feel softer and smoother, making your makeup blend easier and look better.
  • Anti-ageing – they can help slow down the ageing process and prevent the appearance of wrinkles. A thorough facial massage will immediately increase the blood circulation and oxygen flow, which promotes collagen production and enhances the elasticity of your skin. This leads to a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and prevents their appearance. Application of quality active ingredient products will also stimulate collagen and elastin production.
  • Relaxation – Massages are so good for relaxing, relieving stress and balancing your mind. Just like your body, your face muscles need a massage and most facial treatments include one. The boost in circulation you’ll get will stimulate the lymphatic vessels and detoxify your skin, making it look healthy and youthful. The subtle aromas of luxury products are an incredible addition to a soothing, relaxing experience.
  • Skin rejuvenation – exfoliation, extractions, massage and mask application during a facial treatment lead to skin rejuvenation, or in other words – a fresh, renewed skin. This improves the appearance of the skin, giving it a healthy, radiant glow and balanced complexion.
  • Improved skin care routine – your practitioner will analyse your skin condition and help you choose the best facial treatment for your skin type. You can pick up some good advice by your practitioner, talk about your daily skin care routine and get recommendations on which products would work best for your skin.
  • Treating a variety of skin conditions – after identifying your skin concerns, getting a regular facial treatment will help treat them and keep your skin healthy. Issues like blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, sunspots and sun damage, acne, inflammation and redness, rosacea, dehydration, wrinkles, acne scarring, loss of firmness and elasticity can be minimised or completely reversed with the right facial treatment.

What is a basic, deep cleanse or teenage facial?

At Skinlogic, a basic facial is about 45 minutes and the focus will really be just on your main skin concern – whether it be deep cleansing, giving your contours a lift prior to a function, calming irritated skin or providing comfort and moisture to a dry skin. This is also a good introductory treatment for young skins or an economical option for those on a budget.

What is a traditional facial?

A standard facial at Skinlogic is a 75 minute treatment that involves a thorough cleansing, exfoliation, extractions (if necessary), relaxing massage, mask, serum, treatment moisturiser and SPF application.  Biotherapeutics’ Microcurrent technology may be used to assist degreasing, exfoliation and/or serum penetration.

What is an advanced facial?

An intense 90 minute treatment where your skin undergoes a highly focused procedure involving active ingredient penetration, progressive technology use, specialized mask application and/or indulgent relaxation.

Do you use a steamer in your facials?

As a rule, no. Latest research shows that the intense heat of steam damages facial capillaries and can aggravate sensitive conditions.  Traditionally, steam was used to open the pores for easier extraction of impurities. At Skinlogic, we make use of technological devices like Biotherapeutics Microcurrent to open the pores safely for easier extractions.  Having said that, steam may still be used in some instances when called for by a specific product and for carefully chosen patients.

Do you do high frequency treatment for breakouts?

As a rule, no. Although the ozone produced by the high frequency apparatus does kill bacteria and in that way may lessen breakout activity; ozone is a singlet oxygen molecule that can produce free radicals.  Free radicals are responsible for cellular damage and ageing.  At Skinlogic, we prefer to treat breakouts safely with Biotherapeutics LED blue and red light. Having said that, high frequency may be used in some instances when called for and for carefully chosen patients.

Do you remove blackheads and whiteheads?

Yes. We do extractions on impurities like comedones (blackheads) and milia (whiteheads), provided the skin is properly prepared and disinfected beforehand.  Also, an impurity will only be extracted if the practitioner has deemed it superficial enough to be extracted with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.

Will I break out after my facial?

Honestly, we don’t know! If you are prone to breakouts, have underlying congestion or have a reactive skin condition, then the chances are that you will break out after a facial treatment.  Although annoying, this is a good thing.  Facial treatments are designed to increase circulation and lymphatic drainage while encouraging cell turnover.  This may lead to underlying congestion popping up and out. If you want your skin to look radiant and clear before a function – rather book for a Bio-Therapeutic LED session that will give you that glow without the risk of a possible breakout.

Pre-treatment Consultation

  • On arrival, you will be asked to complete a confidential patient intake form.
  • A VISIA Skin Analysis may be conducted.
  • Your practitioner will then discuss your concerns and requirements with you in order to get a clear understanding of your expectations.
  • After a thorough examination, the most suitable treatment options and their alternatives will be proposed to you.  Treatment procedures will be clearly outlined and discussed, together with the benefits and possible risks of each.
  • To ensure a good result, it is of utmost importance to carefully select our patients for this treatment.
  • Should we find that surgery will be better, we will then refer you to a plastic surgeon.
  • Your practitioner may also provide you with a quotation.
  • Any questions you have about the process or treatment will be answered honestly.
  • Together, you and the practitioner will then decide on the treatment that is most appropriate and safe for you.
  • Any pre- and post-treatment care will be explained in detail. Written instructions may be handed to you.

You are under no obligation to book the treatment with us after your consultation, however, should you wish to book a treatment this can be done for you after your consultation or at a later date via phone or email.

At Skinlogic we can assure you that we value your health and wellbeing. You will only be seen and treated by qualified and experienced professionals.

During the Treatment

Before your treatment you will be provided with a detailed consent form. You will be asked to read and sign this prior to having your treatment.

You will have plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you may still have regarding the treatment.

The treatment time, sequence, product and technology use, relaxation element etc. will depend on what you and your practitioner have agreed upon to best address your skin care concerns.

After the procedure, the skin is calmed with the application of specialized products to provide comfort, enhance your treatment, aid recovery and protect you from the sun.
